As soon as the developopers and builders can get them built there will be another 11,000 strata owners in Sydney ... so welcome everyone to Strata Land!!!
Latest figures reveal that 11,025 units were appreoved for construction in 2010 (up to the end of November). That's more than houses (where 7458 hourses were approved in the same period) and more units than were approved the previous year. Which is not bad given the real estate challenges NSW experienced last year.
The most popular area for apartment development approval in Sydney was in the central west (mainly in Auburn, Greystanes, Merrylands, Granville and Parramatta where more than 2600 units were approved). Other hot spots were the St George/Sutherland area (particularly Rockdale and Bexley), Ryde and St Ives.
Despite that, these numbers are still way short of the NSW Government target for urban growth in high density - which is at least 25,000 new units per year. So, we've got some catching up to do.
Nevertheless, its good news for everyone working in strata since that's 11,000 more people needing strata services of all kinds.

I like your posts and the passion that you exude for your area of specialty. Your passion was clearly evidenced with your Strata Valentine ode.
ReplyDeleteYou also are all over the topic of strata incorporating overseas trends and possible ramifications as well as being up to date in terms of government projections and real world actualities.
What really hit home for me was your closing paragraph of this post that said, "that's 11,000 more people needing strata services of all kinds".
As my url www.cleaner.com.au would suggest, there is some affinity here.
