Street Art for Street People

Here's a convergence of 2 things I've been posting about ... street art and street people.  What a pleasant surprise !

In San Francisco these posters have been appearing on bus shelters protesting against Proposition L and trying to raise awareness of homelessness and build more positive and supportive attitudes towards their plight.

Proposition L is supported by San Francisco Mayor, Gavin Newsom, and Chief of the San Francisco Police Department, George Gascon, and would give police more authority to crack down on homeless people disturbing pedestrians on city sidewalks by banning sitting or lying on a public sidewalk between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., with exceptions for disabled persons using wheelchairs, parades and protests, lawful sidewalk businesses, or waiting in a line.

No one know who is behind the posters but it’s not likely they are officially purchased advertising.  Some suggest that Sidewalks are For People, a group that supports a No vote on Prop L, is involved but no one knows for sure.

Regardless … good on them for being more humane and let's do the same here too. Remember that its doesn't take much to go from success and comfort to difficulties and the street (and not everyone can get back on their own).

Plus the art is good.
