Even Tomatoes, Cucumbers & Strawberries like Strata

We know that plants have feelings.  (If you don’t believe me read this).
  • And, that we're running out of space
  • And, that global warming means less rain or rain in the wrong place at the wrong time
  • And, we know how good strata title and vertical living is for people and animals

But did you know some people are working on building skyscrapers for vegetables, flowers and other plants ?

Seriously … there seems to be logic behind these ideas and I expect that we will see some prototypes soon.

Some of the examples proposed are below and you can find out more here.

A vertical seawater farm has been designed by studiomobile and proposed for Dubai. It uses seawater to cool and humidify greenhouses and to convert sufficient humidity back into fresh water to irrigate crops.

In Vancouver there is a proposal for a Harvest Tower by Romses Architects as part of the City’s 2030 Challenge. Complete with a tower for growing fruits and vegetables, a livestock grazing plane, a boutique dairy farm, commercial space, transit lines, renewable energy and more, the Harvest Green Tower has the potential to be a food growing, energy producing, living, breathing sustainable transit hub

Dragonfly is an amazing structure proposed by Vincent Callebut.  The pictures speak for themselves.

And the Brooklyn Farm Project is underway in New York as reported in the New York Times

What kind of by-laws would you have in a vegetable strata scheme ?

At least the meetings would be quick and trouble free.  But how will they pay their levies with nuts, fruit and vegetables or just by carbon dioxide emissions ?

Either way get ready for some nice quiet plant like neighbours in your future strata scheme .... unless Triffids happen to move into the neighbourhood
