Queensland Strata Owners Get Organised

In Queensland strata owners have joined together to form the Unit Owners Association of Queensland.

UOAQ has 700 financial members who own units and says that it’s “an industry Association to advance the interests of unit owners within the community”. It represents its members to Government, and other stakeholder bodies like CTIQ (the association of Body Corporate Managers) and ARAMA (the association of caretakers).

UOAQ is currently actively lobbying for a review of Management Rights, differential rating by councils, and increased water charges.

And, they’re publishing an online newsletter called Unit News which you can read here.

They’re a controversial group that challenge a lot of established protocols and conventions which they’re entitled to do.

So, why not have a look and see what they’re thinking and doing?
