US Strata Owners Lobby the Senate

Strata owners have lots of political power since there’s lots of them and they’re voters but they rarely use it.

But in the USA, one strata owner is harnessing other owners to lobby against a Senate Bill 254.

Jonathan Friedrich (who calls himself the HOA Advocate) is opposed to the Bill because it forces disputes into a process where owners are exposed to the Associations costs.  He says that if the Bill is passed it “will all but PREVENT any one from filing a complaint
unless you are very wealthy and have lots of money to throw away”.

So, Jonathan is asking thousands of owners to help him Kill SB254 by emailing their state Senators and Assembly Members and turning up at Senate hearings to speak against the Bill.  You can find out more about the Bill and what Jonathan’s doing by following him on Twitter.

Whether you agree or not, it shows what could be done if strata owners ever got organised politically.  Imagine if a few thousand strata owners actively pursued an issue with politicians (especially in marginal electorates).  I’m sure they get some attention.

It’s worth thinking more about.

See you at the next strata political rally with your placard.
