One of the problems of the strata title community is the low level of knowledge and awareness of strata owners, residents and others. It causes many of the regular and annoying problems in strata operations and is a great challenge to overcome.
For too long strata information was only found in detailed legislation and expressed in legal, accounting and management jargon. So normal people just could find it and, when they found it, couldn't understand or apply the information easily.
New technologies give people more ways to access information, but the new mediums haven't been used much in strata yet.
So, it's great to see NSW Fair Trading publishing simple and easy to understand information on You Tube that helps strata virgins get started learning about their investment, home or workplace. You can watch the NSW Fair Trading video below and (maybe) learn something too.
Well done NSW Fair Trading! And, let's see more on You Tube about specific issues like paying levies, voting at meetings, being a committee member, repairs and maintenance and insurance cover (to start with some key things).
