But imagine that your strata apartment really was moving. Well … that’s possible in some parts of the world.
You can see a video of what it will be like here too.
In Spain, you could live in this round, spinning building … which is pretty cool.
And, in Dubai, they’re building the Da Vinci Tower, which is a 420-metre (1,378 ft), 80-floor tower in designed by David Fisher. It’s particularly unique because each floor will be able to rotate independently which will result in a constantly changing shape of the tower. Each floor will rotate a maximum of 6 metres (20 ft) per minute, or one full rotation in 90 minutes.
It will also be the world's first prefabricated skyscraper. 40 modules will be built for each floor in a factory and shipped to the site allowing the building to be constructed in 22 months. Only the core will be constructed at site.
The entire tower will be powered from wind turbines and solar panels and surplus electricity will be used to power up to 5 nearby buildings.
And, of course in Sydney you can experience something very similar at the Summit restaurant and bar where the building doesn’t turn but the floor does. Built in the 1970’s it’s an icon to Sydney’s modernist architecture and 1970’s style.
See you at the Summit … going round, round, round and round.
Francesco …
